Working Within a Tight Construction Schedule

Roof installation is only one part of a new construction project. Multiple trades may need access to the buildings, equipment, and surrounding work areas. If roofing activities take too long or interfere with other tasks, they can affect the broader construction schedule.

Whiting Construction adjusted its work to accommodate the project’s limited application window. Spray polyurethane foam can be applied across large roof areas without assembling multiple layers of membrane sheets. Its application process helped the roofing work move forward while limiting interference with other construction activities.

That flexibility was especially important across three buildings. The roofing work had to fit within the active project schedule rather than prevent other crews from completing their assigned tasks.

The SPF Roofing System

SPF is sprayed directly onto the prepared roof surface, where it expands and forms a continuous layer. This application creates a seamless roof across the deck and reduces the number of joints found in many conventional roofing systems.

For a new construction project, installing SPF from the beginning provides the building with an integrated roofing and insulation layer. The system’s direct adhesion and continuous application can also support strong resistance to wind uplift when installed as part of an appropriately designed assembly. Resulting in a Hurricane-resistant SPF roofing system.

Project Results

Whiting Construction completed 63,000 square feet of SPF roofing across the three new construction buildings. The system was installed within the project’s short application timeframe while accommodating other work taking place on-site.
